On a quiet afternoon in April 1970, Karen Jary went with her school friends to Great Yarmouth. When they got to he beach they each put a carefully-written letter into a bottle and threw it into the North Sea. Eleven-year-old Karen was sure that somebody was going to find her massage in a bottle. Her letter, addressed to "Dear Reader", was in a Heinz ketchup bottle. But days passed, then weeks, then months, and Karen didn't get an answer. Finally she forgot about her letter, until last week. Then, almost 25 years later, Karen got the replay she was waiting for. Her mother phoned to say that there was a letter for her form Holland. The letter, including a copy of her original letter, came from Emilie Bambach in the Dutch city of Harlingen. In her letter Emilie said that she found the bottle in 1970, when she was walking on the beach in Vlieland, northern Holland, with her husband Frans. They were on their honeymoon. "Then, the letter got lost in the house. I looked for it everywhere, but I didn't find it until this Christmas, 25 years later, when I was cleaning the attic. I decided to write to Karen because I was curious about the little girls that wrote the letter". The "little girl" is now 36 and married with two children. "I got very excited when Emilie's letter to write to Emilie's youngest son". Emilie also said, "I'm hoping to go to England to meet Karen and her family. I'm sure I'll get on with her very well".
